Women’s Equality Day is observed in the United States on August 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, which ensures voting rights for all, regardless of gender. First recognized in 1971, it was officially designated by Congress in 1973 and is annually proclaimed by the President.
