The Center promotes Catholic teaching, Catholic spiritual formation and leadership development, including advocacy for justice and racial equity concerns within the Black Catholic Community and for all who collaborate with them, in accord with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Church.

Our Mission

The Helen Sloan Scholarship is designed to provide scholarship assistance to students desiring to receive post-secondary education; including, but not limited to, junior college, vocational school, trade school, four-year college or university, or apprenticeship or other job training program. This scholarship is open to practicing Catholic students between the ages of 18-25 who are active in their parish and community.

Continuing Scholarship Application

To begin the application process, you must check all the boxes below stating that you qualify for the scholarship.

Must be a current recipient of the Helen Sloan Scholarship and a current registered member of a Catholic parish for 3 months prior to application period.

Must be a current full-time college student in an accredited college, university, community college or technical/trade school program (minimum of 12 hours/semester)

Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA the semester prior to the application period (i.e. Fall semester preceding application deadline.)

Must provide a brief summary of your college experience to date

Must provide an official current college transcript

Must provide a letter from your pastor stating you are a current member of the parish
